Editorial Review
Power up pre-ride, or on the bike with PureFit's heat proof nutrition bar.
Originally developed as a supplement to PureFit's fat burning system, the PureFit nutrition bar ($30 for a box of 15) is a high carb (27g), high protein (18g) meal that packs 230 calories. It's all natural, non-dairy and contains no trans-fatty acids or artificial sweeteners. Part of PureFit's claim to fame for cyclists is that it will not melt-stick it in your jersey pocket and you'll get the same consistency mid-ride as you would at home. As a pre-ride meal replacement or snack, the bar is lighter than a full meal but contains the goods to get you through a ride. It also works really well as a mid-ride meal on really long days, especially if you feel a hunger pang bonk approaching. Unfortunately, the bars non-melting feature is a bit o a mixed blessing. It's nearly impossible to choke down this dry bar without a full water bottle. That's a major problem when you're an hour from a refill. For this reason, I'll leave my PureFit bars at home and take a PowerBar on the road or trail. Reader Reviews
