It's hard to improve on something as functional as a basic water bottle, but after discovering Polar's Half Twist bottle I haven't used anything else. Its screw cap seals when tightened, but loosen it a half turn or more and water flows free without dribbling or delivering an unexpected gush. Insulated walls keep 28 ounces of liquid cool and refreshing for hours longer than a non-insulated bottle. It's dishwasher safe and BPA-, and Phthalate-free. Matching the stainless body, the clear cap is durable too, hardly scratching when I left the bottle on my bumper and drove away—leaving the bottle to hit the deck. The only thing better than owning a half twist is having two—one for home and one at work. The Half Twist is also available in a non-insulated plastic version with the same great cap design for $12.—Ron Koch
